Outside my window

Listening to the rain,

falling outside my window

drumming a pattern

dreary and cold the day

outside my window

inside I sit, warm and dry

listening to the music

hearing, the songs of the rain

falling, outside my window

thinking, of the good it will do

for spring's flowers, soon to show

thinking how it will ease the drought conditions

of places near

thankful still, that it is rain, falling

outside my window

soaking the ground

creating the puddles

that in summer's warmth I could

as in my youth, splash and play

now I merely curse the mess it makes

splashing onto my vehicle

as I pass

how I digress, wandering in my thoughts

of what is transpiring

outside my window

while I sit here, warm and dry

wondering, about the fare of others

those without a home

living in tents, living in a cast off cardboard box

shivering, cursing the cold

as they seek to be warm

hope to be dry

a dreary winter day

bringing forth thoughts

bringing forth prayer

for those in need

living, suffering, fighting to survive

in the rain

outside my window
