You came-- to serve

 

You came

into this place

to serve

To serve the Father, fulfilling His plan

You came, as a babe

innocent, pure

to begin Your journey

a King, born a lowly birth

so the common man will see

You understand

You know the simple things

that man lives

You came to serve, walking the dusty roads

teaching to all that would hear

explaining, sharing to all that would understand

You came

You came to serve

as You healed those brought to You

those that reached out to You

even as trembling, they touched the hem of Your garment

You knew, when one believed

and You healed, in compassion

You came to serve

reaching out to the children

blessing them in all ways

smiling at their innocent laughter

smiling at their innocent heart

You came

to serve

You came

to obey

to go to the cross

serving the Father

obeying His holy plan

serving man

by paying the price of sin

walking from the tomb

Savior

You came to serve

You left, after commanding

to all that follow You

to be like You

to understand the reasons

the teachings

and to serve others

as He had served

by walking this place

serving others

by sharing

teaching

reaching out in all ways

to explain

to all who would listen

to all who would hear

and understand

the gospel

of the Son of Man; the Son of God
