While You were here,

You lived a simple life

born a lowly birth, placed in a manger

as a child, grew as a carpenter's son

Son of God, Savior of man

in a simple life, lived to understand

even as You knew all things

this, helped those to follow to believe

You have walked here

given up all of Heaven's glories, Your throne on High

to walk, this simple life

a simple cloak and sandals

leaving Your footprints in the dust

as You walked the roads, bringing understanding

of the Father's ways

as You obeyed

As You walked the simple life, they came to You

the sick, the weak, the blind

You healed, with a simple touch, a soft spoken word

and they walked away, healed and forgiven

You taught to all who would hear

You worked many miracles, for all to see

feeding the thousands, with so very little

as You walked the simple life

away from Your throne on High

You showed to all who would see

taught all who would hear, and understand

the Father's great and never ending love

even, unto death

death defeated, when You walked, risen from the grave

death defeated, when the stone rolled away

death defeated, because You came

because You lived a simple life

out of love

out of obedience to the Father

living, a simple life, for a simple reason

to save those that will hear

and come to You
