We Gather, and We Pray

Suddenly


it happened so suddenly Lord

without true warning

the earth quaked beneath their feet

so many times before the ground has shook

but this, this was different

and they knew

and You knew



Suddenly, the wall of water rose

rushing ashore pushing everything before it

with little warning, no warning

this wall of water sped inland

leaving destruction behind it

and they knew

and You knew



so many were lost

so much destroyed



the pictures are coming now Lord

of what has happened there

so we gather, and we pray

for those effected by this

when the earth quaked

and the wall of water rose up

we gather and we pray

for those who are injured

for those who are now homeless

and we know

and You know



so many were lost

so much was destroyed



the pain that comes from Japan

from all the areas that were affected

from the crashing wall of water

that rose up from the ocean

speeding inland pushing everything before it

we gather, and we pray

for healing of people injured

for healing of people suffering the loss of those loved

we gather and we pray

for safety of those working in rescue efforts

for safety of those trying to help

by offering lodging, food, medical help

we gather, and we pray

for we know

and You know



so many were lost

so much was destroyed



we gather

and we pray
