victory, eternal victory

How could we forget? How in our hearts

could we allow the distraction?

as we walk, head down

worries across our face in the lines on our brow

fretting over the day to day

how could we forget

that victory is ours, we have won

how could we allow, the distraction

as we walk, through the daily

our eyes and heart weary

of the storms and struggles

that strive to drag us down

that manage, to drag us down

how, how, could we forget

what was done on the cross

the redemption of those who believe

washed, in the blood of salvation

how could we forget, how, in our hearts

could we allow the distraction?

others watch our walk

they hear our talk

and they wonder,

where is our joy? Is this truly the sign of our hope?

how could we forget?

that victory is ours? We have won

the dark one is defeated by the light

let it shine, let it shine

within our heart, within our eyes

our life

we have won, death is defeated

our hope lives

victory, eternal victory is ours

walk with joy, walk with a smile

dance in joyous acknowledgement

In Your Presence

In my heart, in my life

I feel Your presence

the excitement of Your presence

so very close

walking with me

sharing this walk with me

I feel Your presence

when I stand on the banks of the water

watching the ripples created by the summer breeze

feeling the peace that floods my very being

as I look upon the gifts You have given

reflections in the water remind me

how my life should reflect You

how I hope, how I desire

that my life reflect You

I feel Your presence with me

within my heart, speaking to my heart

Your most Holy Spirit within me

guiding my steps along this way

helping me to recognize in the beauty

the gifts they are

in the never ending sky and all it contains

the stars uncounted, sparkling diamonds in the night

clouds of white, building and dancing across the sky

stretched out on a field of grass I watch

as the birds, butterfly and bee, move from flower to flower

dance on the passing winds

Tears of amazement, tears of gratitude fill my eyes

as I tremble in Your presence

feeling Your glorious presence

the love that You have given me

how You have washed my life clean

I bow before You on bended knee

how I love You Lord, for how You love me

what You have done for me

suffering at the hands of those You came to save

suffering incredible, indescribable pain

Your blood flowing unchecked as You hung,dying on a cross of wood

Your love so great, Your obedience so full

I feel Your presence, with me, within me

as I stand marveling at the gifts You have given

as I stand, marveling

trembling at the feeling flowing within my heart

as I stand in Your presence

for You have brought me far

so very far

from where I was

snakes I have known--and photographed

                              The first black snake that came slithering through my yard

the copperhead that my dad killed..his dog almost got bitten by this critter

another black snake that came creepy crawlin' down my driveway.

I remember the struggle, the moments when

The darkness and cold surrounded me

fear was my companion, fear

of what was, fear of what could be

fear, of what would be

I trembled at the thoughts of a future

when I would stand before You, the most Holy

for I knew my sins

around my being I wore the shackles of shame

I suffered as I walked through my days, lost

alone, trapped in the sins of my own making

not knowing the way out, I wandered

feeling lost, feeling dirty

shame

at the lowest point of my dispair

You called my name

I saw Your light shining brightly, so close

I fell to my knees before You, hiding my face in my shame

I knew my sins

then wonder of wonders, I felt Your touch on my heart

I heard You again call my name in compassion and love

forgive me, I cried, forgive me,

as the sobs and tears that had been locked away

broke free

I felt Your love covering me, drawing me close, to You

Your voice, filled my heart and Ilistened

as You told me Your story, why You had come

The Father's instructions and reasons

the love, all the love

You told of Your death here

at the hands of those You came for

but You had known

and You understand

I listened as the tears fell

from a healing heart

You told of walking from the tomb

Your job accomplished, death had lost

the curtain was torn

You reached out to me, lifting me

from the depth of my sins

Your shed blood washing away the stains of my sins

cleansed, I am cleansed

free, how free

as I walk with You, hear You speak in my heart

I sing in the light

I dance in the love

as I remain here

cleansed of sin, cleansed of shame

close to You

ever and always

close to You
