I'm excited. On January 22 starting at noon I will be reading passages from my book Blessed in His Promises, the second in the Blessed Series of inspirational poetry.

I am hoping that my local friends can attend this event and anyone that is in the area on this day can drop in.

A portion of each of my books purchased will be donated to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Lift me

Lift me up Lord

from the place where I have fallen

lift me, into Your presence

closer to You

let me walk closer to You

for I know I stumble

I know that I fall

the weakness of this flesh

leaves me saying things I should not

doing things, best left undid

lift me Lord

from this place where I have fallen

restore me to Your grace

Your love, never ending

covers me

even as I wander down wrong paths

You stand, waiting

for me to see what I have done

waiting for me, to call out

repentant, contrite

lift me Lord

from this place where I have fallen

lift me back

into Your light

fill me with Your mercy

cover me always with Your grace

as I walk

teach me, what I need learn

give to me, the words

that I need to say

place in my heart

the love that is Yours

that I may share, as You would have me share

lift me Lord

from where I have fallen

put my feet back on the right path

the path that You have set before me

that I may continue to accomplish

the works that You would have me

do for Your Kingdom

lift me Lord

draw me ever closer to You

look, to the heaven's

see the sky filled with the heavenly host

songs of joy, praises for His arrival

King of Kings, Son of God

has come

to save man, to be the door

the way to the Father

He has come

do you hear the shouting?

alerting all, sharing the news to all

He has come

King of Kings, breath of Life

a child born in a stable

lowly birth, born so man could understand

He has come

do you hear the angels singing

do you hear the praise in the words

as they sing

King of Kings, water of Life

He has come

watch the shepherds as they come

bowing to the child

see the wise men as they approach

bowing to the child

King of Kings, Son of Man

Blessed in His Promises

A child is born

 

A gift like none other was given

few realized the importance

of what to most was an every day, nothing special event

a child is born

How could this be special

this day on which a child was born

how could this child be special

born of such lowly birth

without

born in the night, born in a stable

no special child would be born this way

would they?

how could this child, be a gift to man?

a small whimper as the babe sleeps

as the animals watch, as his mother tends to him

there is nothing special here

is there?

on a hill not so far away, shepherds gather round

keeping watch on their flocks

as suddenly the sky is filled with heavenly host

angels singing praises, the sound resounding off the hillside

as the shepherds tremble at the sight

they are told 'fear not'

this is a special night, a child is born

as they rush to see this child

resting in a manger

as his mother tenderly caresses his cheek

and the animals watch nearby

this child

cannot be special, can he

born this lowly birth

in a stable

sleeping in a manger

as the animals watch

a special child would be sleeping comfortably

tucked away in the best of rooms in the inn

wouldn't he?

King of kings, born a simple birth

born to live a simple life

so that man will know, for all times know

that He understands

the suffering and the pain

the struggles and the hunger

of the simple man

living the simple life.

the least of these

Help me Lord

that I remember

the least among us

help me, that I do not forget

as I wander through my day

that there are those

that are cold

there are those, that are hungry

they are my brethren

no matter their skin tone

no matter their language

they are my brothers and sister

let me remember

reach out to them in ways I can

offer, what I can

take care of those, that I can

make me able Lord

to help

those that suffer

through no fault of their own

those that suffer

due to mistakes made

help me Lord

to remember

how You have blessed me

and help me to share

let me see, those You have placed before me

that I may reach out to them

in their time of need

work through me Lord

use me as a tool in Your hand

help me Lord

to make a difference

to the least of these

Your children

as others, have reached out to me

as You Lord, have reached out to me

through others

blessing me, enriching me

help me Lord

that as I go

I may do the same

Silence greets the night

the world holds its breath

for He is coming

The angels wait, watching

ready to burst forth in praise

He is coming

in a stable a child is born

wrapped in swaddling cloths

and placed in a manger

a small cry and then quiet

as the animals look to the sound

in the heaven's a star shines brightly

shepherds gathered round a fire are surprised

when above them a host of angels appeared

singing praises

He is here

as they rush to see

wise men traveling are searching

they wish to see

as the angels watch

He is here

a baby born in Bethlehem

King of Kings, born a child

raised a carpenter's son

Son of God, Son of Man

born in a stable

humble of birth

born to endure

born to understand

what we endure

as the angles watch

from outside

Why did I not think of this?

understanding once hidden

given freely today

 

You came to us a babe

leaving Your heavenly throne on high

to walk, in humble humiliation

knowing, as You came, how it would be

from outside this earth You came

from streets of gold

to don sandals to walk along streets of dust

You came to save, even as You were rejected

an outsider, not what was expected

You came, born in a stable

was it much more, than a cave in a hillside

born outside the inn, for there was no room

You knew, as You came

outside, no room, different

placed in a manger, wrapped in swaddling cloths

child of God, come down

leaving Heaven's glory, for a stable

come to save man from their sins

an outsider unaccepted by your own

even as the angels sang

as the shepherds came

amazed and in awe, were those that knew

they had seen someone special

even as the pagans from other lands came

kings grew fearful

of an outsider, born in humiliation

resting under heaven's star

You came to us, humble, in obedience to the Father

outside of Heaven's gates

You walked among those much loved

teaching, healing, loving

yet with no where to rest Your head

for You knew, this was not home

this was but a temporary, yet necessary thing

You had come to do

humble to the Father's command

humiliation in the eyes of those that did not

would not, could not understand

what an outsider, could offer

even as they feared

Your words, Your actions

the love that shone from Your very presence

You came to us, from outside this earth

born outside the inn, for there was no room

and those who did not understand

could not accept

forced You outside the city walls, to die

tortured and beaten, Your blood flowing

from wounds suffered at the hands

of the ones, who would not understand

the cause for Your walk in humility

hung on a cross You suffered alone

as the Father looked away

and You were outside

for a moment

from Him

On a quiet night, in Bethlehem

You came

and the angels sang

as You, King of Kings, lay sleeping

a child of humble birth

outside

born to save

born to open doors

born to be the door

to the Father

To walk with You, to follow You

makes one different

set apart, outside

the ways of this world

to follow You

one must understand

and accept that humble

humiliation

such as You, Yourself did

as You came

as You lived

as You died on the cross

to rise again

beating death

beating sin

accomplishing, what You came to do

in love
