Luminaria

Luminaria-- a candle in a sand filled bag, used in celebration around Christmas

Luminaria--a candle-nestled in a block of wood, resting inside a white bag. On the outside of the bag, is a name. One who has fought and survived. One who is fighting, one who has fought- and lost their battle with cancer.

Luminaria

How I remember your smile

brightening up even the most dreary of days

Your laughter, your voice, better than any music

that has ever been played

Your love, lit my path

made this place better

We walked along the paths

seeing the gifts that were left there

You always noticed everything, missing nothing

hand in hand we would walk

how I remember

until you were taken from me

a battle you fought

cancer

a battle, you lost

Now, I walk

along this track...lined

with paper bags

luminaria

candles in the bags

your name, your precious name

emblazoned on the bag

a candle burning for you

in memory of you

deep in the night

as the air turns chilled

stars shine down from a sky dark and black

as the candle flickers

in memory of you

I remember you

walking with me

I miss you

how I miss you

I honor you with this

your love, your presence so special

a light in a dark life

sparkling and bright

shown here now

remembered

in a candle in a bag

flickering, gently

luminaria

You fight, this fight

diagnosed, with this disease

a battle you face

surgeons and treatments and medicines

supervising your life

controlling your time

trying, to take you away

I see the fear, deep in your eyes

as we wander along this path

seeking the gifts left along the way

your hand in my hand

your smile, trembles

I see the weariness that you suffer

You fight, this fight

this disease

I honor you

your name emblazoned

here, on the front of a bag

luminaria

the candle within, a light of hope

flickering gently within

a small light, a light of hope

in honor

of the fight that you fight

against this disease

not alone, never alone

luminaria

in the dark of the night

respectfully lit

the street lights go dim

go out

candles burning

lighting the bags

luminaria

you will always

always be remembered

you will always

be held within my heart

luminaria

honor you,

in your battle

in your walk

never alone

passing the bags

with the candle, gently

flickering within

luminaria

help us, fight cancer. Help us, beat cancer. Help us, fund the search for a cure, creating more birthdays. Help us, end the need for these precious, gentle reminders of those we have loved and lost, of those we love, who fight. Of those we love, who have won, but have been forever changed...
